Araqchi: Iran seeking fresh ways in nuclear talks

ILNA: Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi has said that Tehran is seeking new innovative ways in nuclear talks to accelerate the pace of developments.

Referring to a trilateral talks held on Friday by the Iranian and US nuclear negotiators in the presence of the EU official Helga Schmid, Araqchi said the talks were ‘positive’ and ‘serious. ’

However, he added, ‘This does not mean that extraordinary progress has been made during the talks, but rather the talks are being followed closely and tightly. ’

The Iranian nuclear neotiators attended exchaned view with their US counterparts led by Wendy Sherman on Friday in a meeting which was also attended by Helga Schmid, a deputy to the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherin.

Speaking to Islamic Republic News Network(IRNN) in Geneva, Araqchi said negotiations have come down to details now.

He noted that after one year of negotiations, parties are now in a stage where they have to concentrate on details.

‘As Iran is eying a comprehensive agreement which includes both outlines and details, it has to focus on all aspects and issues simultaneously, ’ said the diplomat.

He stressed that such objective required a prolonged and concise procedure.

The US and Iranian experts held about five hours of discussions on Friday morning.

The trilateral nuclear talks took about two hours and a half.

They are to continue their discussions on Saturday.

Foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry are likely to join the talks on Sunday.
