Zarif hails China’s key role in 5 + 1

ILNA: Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to China as a key player in group of 5 + 1.

In a joint press conference with his visiting Chinese counterpart Wang Yi here on Sunday, he said Iran is investing much on China’s role in working out a final nuclear deal.

He noted that Iran and China have had extremely detailed debates on Iran’s nuclear issue.

The Iranian foreign minister further hoped that China will continue with its constructive role by offering new useful suggestions.

Given the existing political will on the part of the countries involved in the talks, he said, Zarif was confident that the ground is prepared for reaching a comprehensive solution in near future.

He said the number of exchange of visits between the two countries’ officials which has remarkably grown in the past eighteen months is a proof of the importance both nations attach to their long - term and strategic relations.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, he discussed bilateral relations, international topics, nuclear issue and ways to enhance mutual relations with his Chinese counterpart that lasted for two hours and a half.

He cited various energy sectors including the nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, industries, economy and finance as some of the areas of potential cooperation between Iran and China.

The Chinese foreign minister arrived in Tehran Saturday evening for a two - day visit to confer with senior Iranian officials on expansion of mutual relations and regional and global issues.

Iran and China are to study various political, economic, cultural, regional and international issues.
