ILNA: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Europe can play a more active role to facilitate a comprehensive nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic and the P5 + 1.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remark in a Monday meeting with Greece’s new Ambassador to Tehran Georgios Ayfantis, who submitted his credentials to Zarif during the meeting.

Zarif said Iran and Greece have a resolve to make use of their potentials to improve relations in various fields, including cultural and tourism sectors.

He pointed to the recent terrorist attacks in France and said, “Europe must examine the real causes of violence and extremism as a serious challenge and prepare the ground for common understanding on these concepts in cooperation with important countries in the Middle East. ”

The new Greek ambassador, for his part, said Athens welcomes the expansion of ties with Tehran in all areas.

A wave of terrorist attacks hit France on January ۷, when the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo came under assault by two gunmen. Twelve people were killed in the incident.

The two suspects then fled to a town north of Paris where they took a man hostage.

Another standoff evolved when one or two other suspects took a number of people hostage in a market in France.

Police launched almost simultaneous assaults to free the hostages in both standoffs, killing a total of three hostage takers. Four hostages were also killed in the market before police launched an assault to free the hostages.

All suspects were reportedly linked to the terrorist al - Qaeda group.
