Iran, IAEA to start new round of talks

ILNA: Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) start a new round of talks with Iranian officials on October 7.

The delegation is headed by IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards Tero Varjoranta.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran(AEOI), said that the talks are aimed at reaching an agreement over two remaining steps of the agreed five practical measures which were to be implemented by August ۲۵.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano confirmed on September ۶ that Iran had implemented three of five transparency steps.

The IAEA delegation arrived in Iranian capital, Tehran on Monday night.

Iran’s Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi on October ۳ expressed concern about Iran’s secret nuclear information obtained by the IAEA leaking out, Press TV reported.

“It is regrettable that classified information in the agency has not been protected again, and while Iran and the agency were busy with planning the meeting, the news was published by a Western media outlet, ” he said.

" This issue once again confirms Iran’s misgivings that spying exists in the agency, ” Najafi said.

He also called on IAEA chief Yukiya Amano and other officials to fulfill their responsibilities regarding the confidentiality of information obtained from Iran.

Iran and the IAEA signed a joint statement on November ۱۱,۲۰۱۳ to outline a roadmap for mutual cooperation on certain outstanding nuclear issues.

Under the November deal, Tehran voluntarily agreed to allow the agency’s inspection of certain nuclear energy sites.

IAEA inspectors have already visited Iran’s Arak heavy - water plant and Gachin uranium mine.
