ILNA: Iran is ready to launch a joint mobile operator with Iraq, Iran’s Telecommunication Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said.
He said due to the travel of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims to holy shrines in the two countries, the Iranian private sector has announced readiness to launch a joint mobile operator.
However, the Iraqi side should also announce its readiness, he said, adding that if the plan is finalized Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims can use certain SIM cards during their stay in the other country.
“Telecommunication infrastructures in Iraq have been damaged due to military presence of the Islamic State group in Iraq. Iran is ready to rebuild telecommunication infrastructures in Iraq” Vaezi added.
