Iran, Turkey reaffirm commitment to raise trade to dlrs 30 billion

ILNA: Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that the two countries have the potentials to raise trade to $30 billion a year.

During the meeting, Larijani described further cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation, trade and industry as significant.

The two officials also shared views on mutual cooperation, regional developments and issues of Islamic world.

They underscored the two countries’ efforts to find peaceful settlement of the disputes and restoring peace and stability in the Muslim states.

Stressing the need for close cooperation among Muslim countries, Larijani said that under the current regional and global conditions, Iran - Turkey collaboration if of special importance.

For his part, Erdogan appreciated Iran for holding presidency of Islamic Inter - Parliamentary Union in the past year, hoping that Turkish parliament would help settle the issues of the Muslim World during its periodic presidency using Iran’s experience.

Erdogan announced his plan for visit to Iran late January or early February.
