Reformist ideas presented on 1500 tariffs; Iran’s minister

ILNA: Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade reported on presentation of reformist ideas on 1500 tariffs and said the amendment will be handed over to the government in the current week to be implemented in case of approval.

Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh told reporters that in this amendment the amount of tariffs in some cases has been increased and in other cases has been modified.

“With regard to economization of foreign exchange, efforts should be made to increase hard currency revenues and as the Supreme Leader and officials have emphasized the need for development of non - oil exports, it should be planned and implemented in the country. ”

He said based on statistics for ۱۰ months over ۲۲% increase has been registered in export as compared to the corresponding period last year while in accordance to Article ۱۰۲ of the law on planning, import is possible through enforcement of appropriate tariffs and technical tariffs.

The minister noted that as the government announced last year, import of items in Group ۱۰ which are less needed in the society were imported through a double trading profit.

Pointing to global economic situation, Nematzadeh said with regard to the oil price drop certain limitations have emerged in some cases that despite a ۲۲% growth in exports however export to some counties have been limited and security condition in some neighboring countries have damaged the process.

He said for the import of some commodities the measure will be taken to use currency at free rate, adding the proposals have been offered in this regard.
