Russia to grant $2.5 billion loan to Iran soon

Russia agreed to grant a sum of 2.5-billion-dollar loan to Iran in tow different phases to help the country spend on its planned projects.

 “The decisions to grant the loan to Iran has ended and we hope that we will obtain the permits for giving the loans to the country,” Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak said on Monday.

He reiterated that the intrastate procedures concerning the two loans to Iran are about to be completed, and said, “We will finish them soon and this is probably a matter of two weeks.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in November that Moscow is ready to provide a $5 billion state loan to Tehran to promote industrial cooperation.

Another ‎$2 billion export loan will be granted to Iran by Russian state lender Vnesheconombank, the country’s media reported.
