Iran's Ambassador to Beijing Ali-Asghar Khaji said here on Monday that Iran-China trade transactions reached 66.35 million dollars in 2016.

Talking to IRNA, Khaji described China as the first Iranian trade partner and the biggest buyer of oil and non-oil products from Iran.

Khaji reiterated that China imported 31.29 million tons of products, worth $9.35 billion, from Iran in 2016, adding the figure indicates 17.6 percent increase in terms of weight.

He added Iran sold 630,000 barrels per day of oil to China in 2016, stressing that the figure shows 17.6 percent increase compared to 2015.

In July 2016, General Administration of Customs of People's Republic of China announced that in the post-sanctions era, Iran's oil trade with China increased following the removal of the anti-Iran sanctions resulted from the landmark nuclear agreement made between Iran and the world six major powers (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) in 2015.

Iran is currently the sixth major oil supplier to China.

As one of the traditional customers of Iran's oil products, China, consuming 11,968,000 bpd in 2015, is the second major oil consumer of the world after the US.
