Syria is now more powerful than ever, says Ali Akbar Velayati, top advisor for international affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader.
Our assessments suggest that Syria is powerful than ever, Velayati told Deputy Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad upon arrival in the Syrian Capital on Friday.
Tehran has close relations with Damascus and supports the Syrian people and government resisting against the extremist Takfiri groups, he said.
'I am very happy to convey the warm greetings of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to the Syrian people and government,' he added.
The courageous Syrian President Bashar Assad proved that with good management the country and people could be saved and steered toward safe shores, the head of Iran Expediency Council's Stratregic Research Center said.
Velayati arrived in Syrian capital Damascus on Friday evening following his trip to Lebanon.
He is expected to examine latest regional developments and bilateral ties between Tehran and Damascus in his meetings with the Syrian top officials.
In Beirut on Thursday, the Supreme Leader's top advisor held talks with Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Seyyed Hassan Narsallah. They discussed the latest situation in Lebanon and the region.
He was in Lebanon to attend the International Meeting of the Global Union of Resistance Ulemas and Supreme Council of Ahl-ul-Beit Global Assembly.
While in the Syrian capital, Velayati is expected to visit the war-wounded people at a hospital.
