Iranian Health minister to attend global health conference

Minister of Health and Medical Education Hassan Hashemi arrived in China Monday morning to attend the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai, China.

The Iranian health minister who is heading a high-ranking delegation of Iranian officials was welcomed at the airport by the Chinese officials.

The Iranian minister is expected to visit the Suju hospital on Monday morning.

Hashemi will meet with his counterparts from other countries including China on Monday evening.

He is scheduled to give a lecture on sustainable development with good management of health section on Tuesday.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) website, more than 750 global leaders in politics, health and development have attended the Global Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai to underscore the links between health and sustainable development, and to chart a joint way to progress on both.

The conference is timely. It takes place a year after world leaders adopted the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations General Assembly, and just weeks after the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change entered into force, said the website.
