Election is not a time for political reckoning; Ebtekar tells ILNA

Head of Iran's Department of Environment expressed hope that candidates enter the race with intentions of building Iran's future.

"Masoumeh Ebtekar", Head of Iran’s Department of Environment in his interview with ILNA, telling that the election is not a place for political reckoning, emphasized: "election is a time that all can gather to put effort on addressing and reducing the country’s problems and challenges."   

Regarding Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's bid for running in the election, she stressed: "I don’t have a specific opinion in this regard. I hope we can hold a reasonable election and all the candidates would enter the race with positive intentions. I hope they come with intentions for constructing Iran’s future."

Top environmental official regarding latest situation in the spread of Avian Influenza told: "Last year we totally barred bird hunting and if this year also emergency situation get declared, bird hunting ban will get extended."

Answering questions regarding casualties of the disease, Ebtekar said: "We have previous year statistics, but don’t have this year’s data yet. In preceding year, in some wetlands like "Meighan", we witnessed casualties in migratory birds. But in general the casualties in the last year weren’t much severe."
