Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said late on Monday that the people brought the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to bear result and brought six world powers to the negotiating table.

Addressing a large gathering of Iranian expatriates in Berlin, Zarif said that the people could put up resistance against the hostile and destructive enemy and eventually defeated Saddam and his supporters.

He further noted that the people participated in reconstruction process after the war and withstood against the sanctions.

The people also showed on May 19 elections that they will never allow a gap to be created between them and the establishment, he said, noting that negotiating delegation was translation of public will.

“While the nations of the region and regional governments are grappling with different problems and a dreadful wave of massacres, we owe our peace to the people,” he said.

Iranian top diplomat said that the chance for forging sustainable relations with Europe, particularly deep economic ties with Germany has come to the fore.

“If we lose opportunities, others will turn them into threats against us,” he said.

“We as the strongest country in the region believe that Iran’s security and progress will be ensured only in a safe and developed region,” he said, noting that those attempting to acquire security at the cost of jeopardizing others’ security will gain nothing but insecurity and abjectness.

“We have achieved single-digit ranking in scientific courses. We should promote indigenous technology using international advanced technology,” he said.
