Repeating 'baseless and false' claims does not make up for the US strategic, big mistakes on Iran and the region in recent decades, spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry said in response to the latest anti-Iran claims by the US Secretary of State.

Bahram Qasemi said the latest allegations by Rex Tillerson is 'unnecessary and futile insistence on his baseless accusations against Iran'.

Before a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Rex Tillerson in a bilateral meeting with the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini on Tuesday once more accused Iran of what he described being responsible for 'destabilizing actions' in the region.

'Accusing other countries is no remedy for old pains and wounds left from aggressive and greedy policies of the US in the region.'

'Before it is late, Mr. Tillerson had better try to learn truths and the history of the region, and review the US policies and their consequences that have resulted in acute crises and death of hundreds of women, children and innocent people,' Qasemi said.

Iran is one of the victims of interventionist policies, coup d'état and tyranny of the US, yet it is known also as one of the countries that is on the frontlines of fight against terrorism in the region and the world, he said.

The spokesman described 'the false accusations' as the indication of the US anger at 'Iran's commitment to its humanitarian and stabilizing role', as well as a sign that 'Washington is supporting terrorism in the region'.
