Foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian is scheduled to visit Iran for talks with the Iranian officials on January 5.

A reporter of the French TV Network France 24, Maryam Pirzadeh, wrote on her tweeter account on Tuesday that Le Drian is to arrive in Tehran on an official 24-hour visit.

While in Tehran, Le Drian is to meet with the senior Iranian officials, including his Iranian counterpart, to discuss various international developments.

The issue of nuclear agreement and the White House new strategy towards the deal will constitute major topics of his dialogue with the Iranian officials.

Pyrzadeh also said that paving the ground for President Emmanuel Macron’s upcoming visit to Tehran is the main part of Le Drian's agenda during his visit to Tehran.

Macron is slated to visit Tehran in 2018.

US President Donald Trump refused to certify Iran’s compliance with the nuclear deal. His decision drew fierce criticism for many countries including French officials such as Macron.

Paris has always underlined Iran’s adherence to the nuclear deal.
