Fight against corruption is main electoral slogan in Iraq, Sedqian tells ILNA

The main challenge is oncoming days after Iraq’s Parliament election. The basic challenge of Shiites will be pluralism and they probably will partake with Kurds.

“First of all, before explaining the last circumstances of political formation in Iraq parliament election, I have to allude that the main subject which has been dealt with in recent weeks is continuing official and financial corruption” Mohammed Saleh Sedqian, Head of Arabic center for Iran Studies, said about latest political formation in Iraq election.

“The important thing is that the corruption in Iraq is not only a matter of high officials. In recent parliament election, we are witnessing that candidates and even ordinary people show great defiance against this matter. In recent years, we witnessed that Salim Aljabouri, Speaker of Iraqi parliament, addressed people to hold up a demonstration against systematic corruption” he added, stressing on the importance of fight against corruption.

“There are 6000 nominees in Iraq region, including Sunnite, Kurdish and even Shiite provinces. All of these nominees have taken fighting against corruption into account. In other words, fight against corruption has become the main electoral slogan in Iraq. These slogans target standards, ministers, cabinets, prime minister and even parliament members and introduce the body of power in Iraq affected by administrative and economic corruption. Namely, People and nominees believe that most of the Iraq officials are tainted with systematic corruption” the Head of Arabic Center of Iran Studies pointed out.

In recent days, Saleh Almutlaq, Head of Arabic Coalition, said in an interview that he would not take part in parliament election. He acclaimed that there is pervasive corruption in the country and he would not risk blemishing his good name. Saleh Almutlaq summoned people to the ballot boxes to fight against corruption.
