Iran parliament member praising digitalization of insurance booklets, tells it prevents medical errors.

“Ali Nobakht Haghighi”, Iran’s parliament member and the head of the parliament’s health and medical treatment commission, regarding the government’s plan in eliminating social security and health insurance paper booklets and digitalization of the data, hailed the act and told that regardless of the amont of funds that the implementation of the plan can save, it will boost the treatment services’ qualities and effectively prevents medical errors.  

“For instance, many patients, take their written prescriptions to local pharmacy and in some cases, the drug stores can’t easily read the prescriptions and the dosages of the drug might be mistaken. If these medical prescriptions would become digitalized, the pharmacist can fill the prescriptions in advance and insert the necessary labels for the drug use on the box” he noted.  

Asked about whether, the existence of health insurance and social security paper booklets might negatively affect new medical insurance and healthcare reform plans, the legislative official dismissing the claims told that the digitalization plans would certainly boost care and treatment quality.  

He praised the plans’ online payment of 60 percent of the doctors’ visit copay which will be transferred to their account.
