Iran’s Biggest Electronic Expo to Kick Off in Tehran

ILNA: Iran’s capital of Tehran will host ELECOMP 2014, an international exhibition of electronic equipment, computers and the IT(Information Technology), with more than 350 companies due to attend the event.

Iran’s Culture Minister Ali Jannati is expected to open the exhibition, underscoring the significance of the show.

More than ۳۵۰ Iranian and foreign companies will take part in the exhibition to put on display their latest products and services in diverse fields, relating to electronics and computers.

Iran is seen by many as a lucrative market with increasing demand for electronic products and services, given its large young population using high - tech digital devices.

According to the data released by the Internet World Stats, there were some ۴۵ million Internet users in Iran as of December ۳۱,۲۰۱۳, while the Internet penetration rate stood at ۵۵.۷%.

The Islamic Republic is seen as the leading country in the Middle East region in terms of Internet penetration. It has already been awarded the UNESCO special certificate for providing telecommunication services to rural areas.
