Iran ranks 3rd in world cement production
ILNA: Iran ranks 3rd in the world and first in the region in terms of cement production, said an official at the Ministry of Mines, Industries and Trade on Tuesday.
Seyyed Mohamamd Fatemian added that Iran produced ۷۰m tons cement in the year ending March ۲۰,۲۰۱۴.
He noted that ۱۸m tons cement were exported during the same period and predicted that cement output will reach ۷۸m tons by March ۲۰۱۵, of which ۲۴m tons will be exported.
Fatemian said ۷۰ cement companies are active in the country.
The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Trade announced on Monday that Iran’s cement production reached ۴۱m tons in the seven months ending October ۲۲.
The report added that the country also produced ۴۵.۲m tons of clinker in the same period, which is produced by sintering limestone and alumino - silicate materials such as clay during the cement kiln stage.
Iran currently exports cement to ۲۴ countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, Georgia, Oman, India and China.
However, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are the main importers of Iranian cement.
