ILNA: Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had a phone conversation with his Italian counterpart Federica Mogherini to discuss a diverse range of issues including Iran’s nuclear energy program and the latest regional development.

During the phone call, Zarif briefed Mogherini on the latest round of nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and described the fight against ISIL and finding a political way out of the crisis as a top priority.

Iran’s foreign minister emphasized that in order to overcome the ominous phenomenon of terrorism, all countries should discard their political concerns and short - term interests.

Mohammad Javad Zarif emphasized that the stability and territorial sovereignty of Lebanon, Iraq and Syria should be respected in the battle against terrorism. He said the Islamic Republic of Iran has already helped these countries in their fight against terrorist groups.

As the security condition in Iraq has deteriorated in a fresh outbreak of violence since June, when the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant terrorist group seized parts of territory in the Arab country, Iran has always voiced support for any initiative aimed at bringing back security and stability to Iraq.

The ISIL terrorists have also threatened other communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, and others, in Iraq.

They have been committing heinous crimes in the areas they have taken, including the mass execution of civilians as well as Iraqi army troops and officers.
