Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reacted to anti-Iran statements of the US President Donald Trump during the latter's current visit to Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

“Iran-fresh from real elections-attacked by US President Donald Trump in that bastion of democracy and moderation. Foreign policy or milking KSA of $480B?” Zarif tweeted.

Zarif made the remarks while commenting on Trump's anti-Iran claims while he was addressing Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia.

The US president's remarks came one day after he signed trade deals of $350bn (£270bn) with Saudi Arabia. This included the largest arms deal ever made in the US history.

The US arms deal with the Saudi rulers has even caused strong protest of his ally Roger Stone who said in his twitter message, 'Instead of meeting with the Saudis @realDonaldTrump should be demanding they pay for the attack on America on 9/11 which they financed.'

Trump has taken a tough line on Iran since he came to power in 2016. Still campaigning, he claimed that the 2015 nuclear deal was the worst ever negotiated and he promised to dismantle or renegotiate it.

Recently, the US added certain Iranian individuals and companies to its list of sanctions, which prompted Iran to do the same regarding nine American personal and legal entities in response.
