Iranian and Iraqi energy officials held talks to decide a date for the start of oil supplies from Iraq's oilfield in Kirkuk region.

The talks were held between Iranian oil ministry officials and Head of Iraq’s State oil Marketer SOMO to transfer 30,000 barrels per day of Kirkuk's crude oil to Iran's Kermanshah oil refinery by trucks.

In a relevant development in late July, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh met with his Iraqi opposite number to discuss recent energy agreements between the two Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members and the latest market updates.

Zangeneh received Iraqi oil minister in his Tehran office on Sunday to discuss recent oil market developments and cooperation in energy grounds.

“We (Iran and Iraq) enjoy favorable cooperation in international and bilateral fields,” said Zangeneh during the meeting, adding the two neighbors can enhance their relations.

He also referred to the visit of an Iranian delegation to Baghdad in February, saying, “Promising agreements were reached during the visit and today we intent to follow up on them.”

The official further added that the recent oil market developments were also considered during his meeting with the Iraqi official.

For his part, the Iraqi oil minister described Tehran-Baghdad relations as close, adding the two countries enjoy full cooperation in various arenas, including the OPEC.
